About us

The main focus of our work is in settling new businesses here, supporting local businesses, developing infra structure and offering technical support for the local community. In addition we carry out short-term projects in special fields.

The WFG supports firms that are planning to establish themselves in Nordfriesland, to extend their business, rationalise or re-settle in the District. There are various instruments available to private industry for business promotion, for example subsidies or share capital, bank guarantees or low-interest loans. The WFG informs about them and explains the course of the respective application processes. The WFG accompanies firms when they visit the authorities and supports them in their search for a suitable industrial site or commercial building. The WFG arranges university contacts and the North Friesian Innovation Centre (NIC) in Niebüll offers an ideal location for young technology-oriented enterprises just starting up. In association with Schleswig-Holstein sponsorship institutions the WFG makes contact to foreign business partners, particularly in neighbouring Denmark.

To strengthen the economic location the WFG carries out various location marketing projects. Among these are innovative conceptual developments for selected commercial buildings and the presentation of location advantages in brochures, reports, lectures, on the Web or at trade fairs. 

An important part of our activities has to do with the wind power sector and with other sources of renewable energy. The Offshore plans for this sector indicate impressive growth perspectives for Nordfriesland. The Husum region has a good chance of remaining the Number One in the wind power sector if it is able to realize its vital development targets.

The corporation has also taken on many tasks in the field of tourism promotion; support for the communal tourist infrastructure for example, cooperation with local tourism working groups, and both financial and operational support for projects such as product development or an improvement in the quality of the products available for tourists in the region. A further example of our work is in assisting local authorities or private investors in their search for sponsorship for tourist infra-structure projects and support for the ensuing application process. Our aim is to improve the quality of what we offer special target-groups of tourists, so as to keep and even increase Nordfriesland’s competitiveness as a holiday region.
